The Outdoor Classroom was built in 1998 by a group of parents/grandparents of students who volunteered to do this in their spare time. At this time, they built two bridges, made a path through the woods that made a complete U, added a large platform with benches where class could be held outside. They also built the stage (which is still standing) in front of the wooded area. Over time, the path grew up, the edges of the bridges began to deteriorate, and the benches built on the platform completely collapsed. The wooded area grew up and the path somewhat washed away. This year, the process of restoring this has begun. Most was done on Spring Break by a few parents, teachers, and a grandparent who all volunteered to take this task on. They cleared the path to the platform and completely replaced all of the benches. They patched boards that were bad on the bridges and also on the platform. They are in the process of adding a Music Wall which is made of pallets and old pots and pans, a Weather Wall, and a Motivational Wall. They will need volunteers to help get these things completed.
